Welcome to Internal Audit Services

We advise Council Members and management on how efficiently and effectively the Council’s services are delivered.

We carry out objective reviews and provide detailed reports of our work and suggest possible areas for improvement.

Why do we need Internal Audit?

The Council is required by legislation to make sure it has an effective internal audit service.
Our work can help management to make sure that:

  • records and reports are reliable and accurate
  • the Council's policies and procedures are being followed
  • laws and regulations are met
  • all work carried out is effective, efficient and economical
  • the Council's assets are protected
  • risks are identified and addressed
  • the Council's objectives can be met
Types of audit work that we do:
  • Risk-based audits of Council Services
  • IT Audits
  • Contract audits – review of capital & revenue projects
  • Special investigations on fraud, corruption and irregularities
  • Follow up audits to make sure our improvements are implemented
  • Audits for our external customer – North Wales Police Authority
  • Management of the audit team at Countryside Council for Wales
