Please click on the link to a map on the left. On-site parking is available for disabled drivers only. Pay and display parking is available a few minutes walk away at Cae Ddol or Park Road Car Park.
Use of the record office is free and open to anyone. An appointment is not always necessary but you are advised to contact the Record Office if travelling any distance or wish to reserve a microfilm reader or computer for your use.
You will need to book a microfilm reader for records such as: census returns 1841-91; parish registers; newspapers; and the index to civil registrations of births, marriages and deaths for all England and Wales, 1837-65. If you wish to use a computer (including free access to Ancestry.com) you are advised to book one beforehand. To book, simply call the above number.
A reader's ticket (County Archive Research Network) is required for access to original material. If you do not already have a ticket you will need to bring proof of identity which includes your address and signature (a driving licence is ideal). You should also remember to bring paper and a pencil to make notes, as pens of any sort are not permitted. It is possible to have photocopies or microprints of most documents made, either at the time of your visit or forwarded to you by post, depending on availability and staff time on the day. The staff will also answer enquires and give advice or help with your research.
