A mid-day meal will be provided, at a fixed price, in all Primary and Special Schools. A choice of courses is provided wherever possible. A mid-day meal will be provided in all Secondary Schools, on a cafeteria basis, with an individual pricing system.
Free School Meals can only be provided for pupils attending Denbighshire schools, whose parents/guardians receive either:
- Income Support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Guaranteed Credit
- Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) with an annual income below 15,575 (7/4/08)
To apply for Free School Meals you will need to complete an application form. Details about the procedure for claiming free school meals are readily available from Headteachers and enquiries will be dealt with in confidence.
All menus in use by the School Meals Service are based on the nutritional guidelines laid down in the National Advisory Committee Report on Nutrition Education (NACNE) but at the same time, offer popular items of food. The menus provide variety and there is control over the use of popular items of food. The choice of a ‘health’ meal is available at all times.
A school meal is provided to all pupils other than part-time nursery pupils. Facilities will be made available at all Primary and Secondary Schools for children who wish to bring their own mid-day meal.
