Work Experience

Would you like to see what it’s like to work for the Council?

Work Experience placements are available to students in Years 10 and 12, those who attend further education colleges and universities and can range from one or two weeks to a whole year for undergraduate students.

There are lots of different departments based in Ruthin, Denbigh, Prestatyn, Llangollen and Rhyl so wherever you live there will be a Denbighshire County Council base near to you.  As well as officers dealing with Environmental Health, Planning, Council Tax - to name just a few - we are responsible for Leisure Centres, Amenity Areas and Countryside Parks so whatever you are interested in we have may a placement available for you!

Whilst gaining work experience with the Council you will learn how local government works and how council taxpayers’ money is spent.

The Council has a Work Experience Co-ordinator who will try to place you in your chosen area of work.  Where you can go depends upon the workload of a particular section at the time you want the placement, and the availability of a suitable member of staff to help you.

You will be able to gain experience of a real working environment which can help give you the skills and insights that are needed today in the world of work.
