The Business Support and Development service works closely with services for adults and services for children and families. This service aims to organise and improve the aims of the directorate so that our staff can give an excellent service to our customers. This means:-
- employing well-trained and professional staff;
- making sure we are making the best use of our money and resources;
- developing general guidelines on how we should work in internal and external communication;
- encouraging the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff; and
- making information available in different formats e.g. Audio, Braille.
The Business Support and Development Unit takes the lead across different areas such as finance, personnel, professional workforce development, information systems, performance management and quality development, health and safety, representation and complaints, and communication. The unit also takes the lead across certain areas of department work including the Workforce Strategy, customer services, e-government and shared services.
Business Support & Development plan to do the following:
- Improve the Directorate's public image so that people understand what we do.
- Improve the way we get communities involved in helping to plan, deliver and give feedback on our work.
- Improve our website so that our customers can find information easily.
- Encourage our staff to be part of improving the way we work together.
- Manage the office move to Brighton Road, making sure that we improve customer access and use materials and techniques that are better for the environment.
- Promote better awareness and understanding of health and safety.
- Find flexible ways to help staff work away from the office.
- Reduce the amount of time staff are off sick.
- Make sure our new IT system for social care (PARIS) is installed and working well.
- Improve information about how much services cost per person.
- Continue to develop our three-year budget plan.
- Develop ways to share support services so we can meet the savings targets set by the Assembly.
