Environmental Health Officers working within the Food Safety Team aim to ensure that all food and drink intended for human consumption by Denbighshire’s 1,400 food businesses is produced, stored, distributed and handled without risk to the health and safety of the consumer.
The General Food Regulations 2004 require that all food on sale is safe to eat. It is applicable to all food businesses from manufacturers and distributors to caterers and retail shops. The council is responsible for enforcement in over 1,400 premises ranging from restaurants, hot food takeaways, school canteens, butchers and mobile catering units.
In addition to proactive inspection, we also undertake a number of other functions which protect public health.
