Referendums
A referendum is a vote on a question about a particular issue or policy.
It means that you can make a direct decision on a question rather than letting your elected representative decide on your behalf. Usually you are asked to vote either ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and It is rarely used in British politics.
This was last used in 1997 in Wales and the question was whether or not a National Assembly for Wales was to be created.
