Blue Box Scheme

Denbighshire County Council working with SITA, has introduced a 'blue box' kerbside recycling service to over 22000 homes in Denbighshire, making recycling even easier.

What can I put in the blue box?

Yes please, we DO want...
All cans (rinsed clean, please).
All glass bottles and jars (rinsed clean, no broken glass).
Newspapers and magazines.
Textiles - that are not suitable for charity (No Carpets).

No thank you, we DON'T want...
Broken glass or other sharp materials.
Yoghurt pots, margarine or ice cream tubs.
Items which have contained a hazardous substance, e.g. weed killer, white spirit, etc.
Pyrex glass or ceramics, e.g. casserole dishes, wine glasses, etc.
Window glass.
No Carpets.

What should I do with my Blue Box?

Please put the Blue Box within the front perimeter of your property by 7.30am on your collection day. The time your box is emptied can vary but we guarantee collection if it is out by 7.30am.

Any recyclables which will not fit in the Blue Box will be taken if they are set out beside the box and sorted into plastic carrier bags (not black sacks).

Remember, if you are away on holiday please ask a neighbour to put your Blue Box away, as it could get blown away and may also make your house look vulnerable.

What happens to all the materials?

On collection day, the recycling crew take your blue box from the kerbside, sort the recyclable materials into individual compartments and return the empty Blue Box to your property. Materials collected are taken to a depot, where they are bulked-up for sales and eventually recycled.
