Flexible Working Hours Procedure

Normal working hours for Denbighshire employees are 37 per week.  Depending on the nature of their duties, some employees may be able to have flexible hours.  The Council have introduced a very generous flexible working hours procedure which is designed to be of benefit to both employees and the Council.  It takes account of worklife balance in its flexibility.  A brief summary of the main points are:-

The flexi leave allowance is 2 days per 6 week period.  However, before taking flexi leave, employees must ensure that they have sufficient credit hours to cover the leave.  Flexileave must not be taken if there are insufficient credit hours.
The number of credit hours carried forward from one settlement period to the next is 20 hours.
There is no specified bandwidth or coretime:  Employees will be able to work within the building’s opening hours for their particular place of work.   Please note that the buildings opening hours will not be changed or extended to meet the needs of individuals.  There may also be a requirement for employees to vacate the building 15 minutes before the official closing time.  Arrangements for individual buildings will be circulated by the Building Manager.
Employees will be required to work a minimum of 4½ hours on each normal working day.  Actual working arrangements will be in accordance with the needs of the service and line managers and employees will be responsible for ensuring that there is adequate office cover at all times.  The maximum number of hours that can be worked on any day is 12 hours.
There is no requirement on employees to be in attendance for both the morning & afternoon – as long as they are doing their minimum hours, there is sufficient office cover and there is no service requirement for employees to be in attendance morning and afternoon.
