Data Protection

The purpose of the Data Protection Act is to ensure that information relating to living individuals is handled responsibly.

The Act also gives individuals a right to access information that might be held about them, for a small charge. However, it does not give you a right to access information held about other individuals. For its part Denbighshire County Council must handle and store your information responsibly and must deal with any request for personal information within 40 days.

The Council deals with requests for personal information from:

Individuals who believe the Council may hold information about them.

Current members of staff.

Ex-members of staff.

Solicitors acting on behalf of an individual.

Parents acting on behalf of their child.

For more information on the Data Protection Act itself try the Data Protection Act web pages.

To make a request for your personal information complete the Access to Information Request Form.
