Building Maintenance

The Building Maintenance Section employs 33 time-served skilled operatives across the County, operating from depots in Bodelwyddan and Ruthin.

The Section is the Authority's main contractor for council house repair and maintenance work. The Section works to the instructions of the Principal Housing Maintenance Officer and his staff via the ‘HMS’ contract and schedule of rates that was won by Environmental Services in open competition in 1998.

The Section maintains approximately 3300 dwellings and completes almost 12000 works instructions per annum.

All requests for repairs are handled by the Council’s Customer Service Centre (customerservice@denbighshire.gov.uk or 01824 706101) with emergency and urgent jobs relayed directly to Environmental Services, and day to day repairs passed to the housing maintenance client department for assessment.

We also operate a 24 hour a day, 365 day a year call-out rota for emergencies. Requests for attendance are received by the Council's Customer Service Centre (01824 706101) and passed directly to the operative on call.

Building Maintenance also carries out maintenance and improvement work for other clients e.g.

  • Approved contractor for the repair and maintenance of public buildings.

  • Social Services adaptation work: handrails, ramps and installation of specialist equipment for the hearing and visually impaired.

  • Alteration and improvement works to school canteens and council offices.

  • Various works for Town and Community Councils.
