  • Family Group Conferences

From time to time, all families have problems.  Sometimes, families can sort these out with help from relatives and friends, but some families may need help from other people.  Family group conferences are a way of giving families the chance to get together and try to make the best possible plan for the children.  At a family group conference, it is the family who make the decisions, not people from other agencies.

  • Family centres

We have one family centre in Denbighshire, which is in Rhyl, called Glan-y-Mor.  This centre offers help, advice and support for children and their parents and carers and is run by NCH on behalf of Denbighshire Social Services.

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

This service is for families with a child or young person who has psychological, emotional or behavioural problems.  They can offer help to families, young people, parents, foster carers, and adopters.  We employ specialist workers in the CAMHS team and refer children and families who need this kind of help.

  • Youth Justice Service (YJS)

The YJS is made up of people from the police, probation services, social services, health, education drugs and alcohol misuse and housing officers.  It works with young people who have committed crimes, and identifies the needs of each young offender by assessing them.  The assessment identifies the problems that make someone offend, as well as measuring the risk they pose to others.  The YOT can then develop a plan to prevent further offending.

  • Young Carers Group

The Young Carers Group helps children and young people who care for someone in their family.  Young Carers often have to do things that most people their age do not normally have to do.  This group gives them a chance to enjoy the friendships and experiences that could be missing from their lives because of the time they spend caring for others.
