Denbighshire Resident Survey

As part of the council's commitment to 'bringing the council closer to the community', a resident survey was carried out to find out how satisfied the residents of Denbighshire were with the council and their local area.  The results of the survey can be viewed by clicking on the link on the left hand side.

Back to boxes?

Denbighshire’s residents are recycling more than anybody else in Wales, and we want it to stay that way!

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) is consulting right now on whether councils should be made to change their recycling systems in favour of a system called 'kerbside sort'. This is the type of system we previously had in Denbighshire when we had our blue boxes.

WAG thinks kerbside sort systems are better because council workers manually sort through the materials at the roadside, and leave behind any items that shouldn’t be there - we believe our 'comingled' system is better because it is simple and convenient for our residents. We ask householders put all of their recyclables into bags or wheelie bins. We then transport the materials to a factory where they are sorted mechanically.

A recent survey of residents found more than three times as many said they wanted to use the comingled system rather than kerbside sort.

We need you to tell WAG what you think - especially if you are one of the people who has started recycling more because of our new systems.

Welsh Education Scheme

Denbighshire County Council is asking people for views on its draft Welsh Education Scheme, following approval by the Welsh Language Board.

The document looks at the current provision, raising awareness of Welsh education and information for parents, assessing the demand for Welsh medium education, expanding provision, providing an education for latecomers, transport, monitoring arrangements and how to deal with complaints.

15, 348 pupils are educated in Denbighshire (7,612 in the primary sector and 7,746 in the secondary sector). 23.1% of the county's primary pupils and 18% of its secondary pupils receive their education through the medium of Welsh/bilingually. 5.5% of the county's pupils statemented with Special Educational Needs receive their education bilingually or through the medium of Welsh.

Have your say on Rhyl Redevelopment Blueprint

Plans to develop Rhyl’s Foryd Harbour, including a walking and cycling bridge connecting West Parade and Kinmel Bay can be viewed on our website.

This landmark foot and cycle bridge will create a new crossing over the Foryd Harbour and link into a network of new and existing walking and cycling routes in the heart of Rhyl’s regeneration area, opening up the area for everyday journeys by walkers, cyclists, people pushing buggies and using wheelchairs. The bridge has been designed to allow access for all, so approach gradients are minimal.

We welcome your views and comments on the proposals and invite you to complete our questionnaire which can be found here.
