How do I change the name of my house?
If you live in Denbighshire and wish to change the name of your house, the property owner must either fill in the House Name Change form or send in a written request to:
Information & Mapping Section
Finance & Performance
Environment Directorate
Caledfryn
Smithfield Road
Denbigh
LL16 3RJ
Stating:
(i) Your name
(ii) The full address of the property including the postcode
(iii) The proposed new name for the property
The Council’s Land and Property Gazetteer team will ensure that there is no duplication of the proposed new name in the local area. If the name is satisfactory then the new address will be registered and you will be informed in writing accordingly. If there is an issue with the proposed new name, we will request alternatives.
The Land and Property team will then send the property name change information to Royal Mail, emergency and essential services and internal departments within the Council. It is the responsibility of property owners to inform their own personal contacts etc.
We would strongly recommend that you DO NOT use your proposed address or print any letterheads or stationery until you have formal notification from us as to your new address.
Failure to notify us of any proposed name changes will result in your property not being formally registered. This will lead to problems with deliveries of mail, goods and services.
Please note that postal numbers cannot be removed from a property as they assist the emergency services to locate the property.
