Private Landlords
ACCOMMMODATION FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR
The Council are always looking to work with private sector landlords to help with our duties to rehouse the groups of homeless people to whom we have a statutory duty.
We will consider properties in all areas of the County depending on the needs of the service at that particular time.
Properties could be made available on a temporary or longer term basis with our Homelessness team being able to supply a management and support service to tenants and landlords in many cases.
We also refer and advise people in housing need to approved landlords.
For the Council to consider landlords the properties must be of good standard, have current safety certificates regarding fire, gas and electricity services where applicable.
The property will always be inspected by Housing Officers prior to a letting and of course must comply with legislation e.g. houses in multiple occupations must be licensed in accordance with the Housing Act 2004.
