The provision of affordable housing for local people to rent or buy is one of the key issues facing rural areas in Denbighshire. House prices in rural areas have increased significantly and many people on modest incomes and first time buyers have found themselves priced out of the housing market.
The role of the RHE is to work with rural communities providing independent advice and support as a facilitator helping them through the complicated process of providing affordable housing. The RHE assists rural communities throughout Denbighshire to assess the need for affordable housing in their area, by helping with the production and analysis of a local housing need survey. If the survey shows a need for affordable housing, the RHE would work with the Community Council, local landowners, Planning Officers, Housing Associations and other relevant individuals and organisations, to help find practical solutions to meet this local housing need.
