Under the Traffic Management Act 2004, all works within the public highway including Highway Maintenance and roadworks that are carried out by statutory undertakers (Gas, water, electricity and telephone companies) are coordinated by our Street Works section. This includes works on all classes of road including Trunk Roads and should lead to reduced congestion as a result of better planning and coordination.
Whilst we try to plan all roadworks well in advance it is not always possible due to emergencies which require urgent repairs. Whilst we give start and finish dates they may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather or emergencies elsewhere.
