Accessibility - removing barriers to information
It is our aim to make our website www.denbighshire.gov.uk available to as many people as possible. We hope you are able to find the answers to your questions quickly and browse around the site with ease. Please spend a few moments looking at the various options available to assist your interactive experience.
Font size control
The easiest way to change the size of the text on our web pages is by using the font size tool A | A | A | that appears at the top of all our web pages.
This can be found in the top left of all pages. The three A's are representative of the text on the website. By clicking on one of the A's all the text on the main page changes to either the smaller or larger versions. The standard view is represented by the middle A.
Our aim is to provide a website that is inclusive and accessible to all users, regardless of disability or technological limitations. 'BrowseAloud' is a small software application that utilises a 'text to speech' system allowing you to listen to our web pages. All you need are a set of speakers or headphones connected to your computer. Then simply follow the link below to the BrowseAloud website to download the relevant software.
We are compliant with Welsh Language Board recommendations regarding bilingual content. An easy switch facility can be found in the top right hand corner of every page Cymraeg / English. By clicking on this it will translate all of the content on the page you are looking at into the opposite language. It also translates the rest of the website, so to navigate in the original language you will need to switch back again.
Different screen resolutions have been taken into account during the design of the web site and so you will find it functions correctly in all resolutions from 800x600 - 1152x864 pixels.
In most browsers there are options you can set to improve accessibility. In Internet Explorer select Tools from the menu at the top of the screen, and then select Internet Options. Click the Accessibility button and there will be a number of options you can turn on or off. For example, you can override the size settings of a web page so that you can to choose the size you require.

Images and 'Alt' tags
We have avoided using excessive graphics within the website where possible, to ensure quick download times and access to information which cannot be read if in image format.Where images have been used we have added 'Alt' tags - text alternatives so that you will still know what the image is meant to convey even if it does not load or if you have have chosen to browse with the images switched off or you are using an assistive technology like a screen reader to browse the web page rather than view.
