When an application is registered on the list, it is warded a certain number of “points” to reflect both the Housing need and certain other factors which are also taken into consideration.
How long does an applicant have to wait for accommodation?
It is very difficult to answer this question - but we will give you an indication when we write to let you know your application has been accepted and put on the Waiting List.
A number of factors are involved including:
A) Your own circumstances (and “points” level)
B) The availability of accommodation you require in the area of choice and,
C) The needs of other people
How are properties offered?
All offers will be made in writing to the prospective tenant.
You will be invited to view the property when it will be decided what repairs need to be done before you move in and if there are any non-urgent repairs which can be done after occupation. A Tenancy agreement will then be signed
Decoration Allowance
A decoration allowance of £30.00 for each of the following rooms may be made if the Council's Officers consider it appropriate; kitchen, living room, dining room, bedrooms, bathroom to a maximum of £150.00. No allowance will be made where a room is generally clean but there are small defects. No account can be taken of taste of colour schemes.
Rechargeable repairs
At the end of your tenancy, you must give the Council vacant possession of the dwelling. You must clear the dwelling of all your furniture and belongings, leave it in good repair and in a clean and tidy condition and return the keys to the Council. If you don’t, the Council may charge you for:
• Cost of clearing the property or garden
• Cleaning it
• Repairing any damage or neglect
• Replacing any fixtures or fitting which you have removed and replaced with alternative of a reasonable and similar standard
• Changing the locks
