Denbigh High pupil is drawing on success with a winning logo.

A Denbigh High School pupils has won £250 for his school after winning a competition to create a special logo for Sustainable Denbighshire, formerly known as Agenda 21.

All schools in the county were invited to take part and were congratulated for their many excellent entries and - according to the judges - the decision was not easy but Ashley Jones came out as the winner.

The schools were given the brief to design a logo that incorporated one or more of three iconic Denbighshire natural wonders, all of which are endangered and particularly precious to the county; the Black Grouse, the Freshwater Pearl Mussel and the Limestone Woundwort (the county’s flower).

Talented Ashley combined all three elements into an eye-catching design that really impressed the judges.

The competition was supported by the Countryside Alliance, the Rhyl Environment Association, the local branch of Friends of the Earth and Sustainable Denbighshire.

Denbighshire’s Biodiversity Officer, Kate Burgess, identified the three flora and fauna for the design brief and will also be offering Denbigh High School the opportunity to run a workshop and presentation for pupils as part of the prize.

Vale of Clwyd MP, Chris Ruane will present Ashley Jones with a prize on Friday November 9 at 10.30am.
