The new Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans has called for an early meeting with Jane Hutt, the Assembly's Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, to discuss the Action Plan submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government following the Estyn report into three of the county's education services.
Yesterday (Tuesday), Councillor Evans announced at a special meeting in County Hall, Ruthin that he would be taking on the lead Cabinet portfolio for Lifelong Learning.
Councillor Evans said: 'Following my election as Leader, my first act as lead member for education is to request an early meeting with the Minister to discuss the Council's response to the Estyn report and to highlight the steps that the Council has already taken to improve and modernise education.
“ I feel that a face to face meeting is vitally important so that I can brief the Minister on the latest position.”
