11/19/2007 - Alley Gates - to lock or not?
Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership is asking for views on whether to install more alley gates in some of the county’s towns.
The partnership has already installed 25 alley gates in various locations around Rhyl and is looking to extend the scheme to other areas of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh.
Alley gates are a form of situational crime prevention that attempts to reduce the opportunities for crimes such as burglary, car theft, drug dealing, criminal damage and anti social behaviour.
Councillor Elwyn Edwards, Cabinet Lead Member for Community Safety, said, “Alley gates are one of the contributing factors to Denbighshire being one of the best performing Community Safety Partnerships in Wales and England.”
This Public Consultation is about letting residents know what is being considered and giving them the opportunity to make representation. A copy of the draft orders together with plans showing the footpath affected can be viewed on the Denbighshire County Council website: www.denbighshire.gov.uk  and at Denbighshire ‘One stop Shops’ at Corwen, Denbigh, Llangollen, Prestatyn,  Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Ruthin and St Asaph.
