05/07/2008 - Turnout in council elections in Denbighshire
Denbighshire County Council has confirmed that turnout in last Thursday's elections for county councillors was 42.4%
Among those voting by post, the turnout was 70%.
The 42.4% turnout compares favourably to voting levels in the three Assembly constituencies in May 2007, which were 40.3% in the Vale of Clwyd constituency, 37.6% in Clwyd South and 45.7% in Clwyd West. The turnout in county council elections in the area of Denbighshire comparable to the Vale of Clwyd constituency was 41%.
All 47 county council seats were contested with a total of 137 candidates, an increase of 9% on the number of candidates in 2004.
