Adult Learners week, which runs from May 17 - 23, kicks off to a special start with the grand opening of a new purpose built Denbighshire Community Learning Centre on the campus of Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Ruthin.
The event starts at 10am on site and staff will be on hand to offer all visitors a tour round the building and give advice on what courses will be held. There will be a series of free taster sessions available including languages and these will be run in the form of cafes with plenty of Spanish, French and Welsh treats to hand!
Other courses cover a wide variety of subjects from creative writing through to card making, buying and selling on the internet or using a digital camera. Staff are also keen to hear what kind of courses adult learners would like to see provided at the centre.
The new building, which has been funded through European Objective 1 and the Welsh Assembly Government, provides welcoming learning spaces and excellent ICT facilities.
The Learning Centre is managed by Rhwydwaith Rhuthun Network which is a partnership between Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Llysfasi College, Coleg Harlech WEA, the town library, Denbighshire Voluntary Services and Bangor University. The Network aims to provide a range of adult learning opportunities and to meet the needs of local learners.
