Denbighshire County Council played host to a delegation of nine senior military officers from three continents who visited Rhyl on 6 May.
They are undertaking a year-long course at the Royal College of Defence Studies in London during which they study defence and international security at the strategic level.
As part of their studies, a regional tour is undertaken to examine, from a strategic perspective, the current position and future prospects for the preservation and enhancement of stability, security and prosperity of the region.
The delegates in Rhyl were senior army officers at the rank of Colonel or above from Egypt, Croatia, Serbia and Austria, a Captain in the Argentine Navy and senior officers from the Royal Air Force and British Army, as well as a senior procurement official from the Ministry of Defence.
Presentations were given by Ian Miller, Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council, on challenges facing local government in Wales and locally and the priorities for the future; Roly Schwarz, Enforcement and Regulatory Enforcement Officer, discussed the success of the Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership in reducing crime and disorder, recognised as the 4th best performance in Wales and England.
Paul Smith, Rhyl Going Forward Manager, also gave a presentation on the significant progress on regenerating Rhyl that has been made by the partnership which is led by the County Council. Paul also took the delegates on a tour of the town to see some of the main developments.
Ian Miller said "We were honoured to host this prestigious study visit by the Royal College of Defence Studies and to share with them examples of the good work that the county council and its partners have been doing".
