Denbighshire has one of the best records in Wales when it comes to the number of planning appeals upheld.
Figures released by from the Planning Officers Society Wales showed that Denbighshire had the 4th best record in Wales in 2005/06, with 80.8% of notifications upheld (21 of the 26).
In 2006/07, Denbighshire came second of all Welsh authorities, with 28 of the 35 appeals upheld (80.0%) . Only Ceredigion had a better record than Denbighshire, although Denbighshire had the best record of all North Wales authorities.
Graham Boase, Head of Planning and Public Protection, said: "The results of this survey truly reflect the fact that councillors on Denbighshire's Planning Committee are making informed choices based on quality information provided by officers. Of course, applicants are allowed to appeal against the Committee's decision, but our record goes to show that we are making the correct decision in the majority of cases. This is a record of which we can be truly proud."
