Ruthin and Denbigh are gearing up for this year’s Vale of Clwyd Heritage Open Days.
Ruthin will open its doors on September 13 and 14 with Denbigh’s weekend taking place on September 20 and 21.
Over thirty properties, many not usually open to the public, invite you to inspect and enjoy them over the two weekends, including castles, churches, chapels, and houses. New properties include Rose Cottage in Ruthin, Tŷ Gwyn in Llanfwrog, Hengoed in Bontuchel and three properties designed by architect Sir E. Guy Dawber in and around Denbigh.
Take advantage of the special interest tours on offer: medieval tours, shop tours, ghost walks and a stroll with the great explorer, H M Stanley himself.
This is just a sample of all the events that are scheduled, so bring your friends and family to take a closer look. To find out what is on offer, visit the website at www.valeofclwydheritage.org.uk.
To book one of the tours and/or order your free guide book, please contact 01824 705274 / 01745 816313 or email heritageinitiative@denbighshire.gov.uk. The guide book will be available during July.
European Heritage Days are an initiative of the Council of Europe. Launched in 1991, last year over 20 million people visited all the participating sites throughout Europe. In Wales, European Heritage Days are co-ordinated on behalf of Cadw - the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment division - by the Civic Trust for Wales.
The weekends are made possible by the combined efforts of Denbigh Civic Society, Ruthin and District Civic Association, Denbigh Town Council, Ruthin Town Council and Denbighshire County Council in addition to the contribution of owners and volunteers.
