06/26/2008 - Denbighshire Focused agenda

Councillors have unanimously agreed to a programme of modernisation branded ‘Denbighshire’s Focused Agenda’.

The aim of the programme is to ensure Denbighshire can meet the challenges of the 21st century through strategic direction as well as the regular monitoring of progress against council priorities.

Councillors will now set up a Focused Agenda Board which will oversee and monitor a review of the council’s structure and will set the programme objectives.

The agenda will fall in line with local and national policy frameworks including the Welsh Assembly’s ‘One Wales’ agenda, which sets out an intention to create a healthy, fair and just society for all, sustainable communities and a prosperous, cultural and diverse society.

Leader, Hugh Evans, who presented the report to members, explained he wanted to provide a mechanism for the council to look at the upcoming challenges the county may face and any barriers to improving frontline services.

“This new agenda will ensure that Denbighshire remains at the forefront of change and that we are more than able to meet any challenges we face in the years ahead.

“Over the coming weeks, it is the intention of the board to work on what will become the council’s priorities for the future, which we expect the full council will endorse in July.”
