07/02/2008 - Update on Council's possession of horses bid

Denbighshire County Council has successfully been granted possession of horses from a Llandegla farm following concerns about their welfare.

At Denbigh Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday), magistrates granted permission for the Council to gain possession of six horses belonging to Duncan Lloyd, of Ty Newydd, Llandegla.

Those horses will be allocated to individuals around the North Wales and North West of England.

The horses were originally taken away from the Llandegla property, as there was inadequate nutrition, a lack of suitable accommodation, waterlogged and muddy pasture with no nutritional value.

In a separate hearing, Denbighshire County Council applied for possession of horses belonging to Anita Ashley of Coral Springs, Llandegla, and the case was adjourned in her absence.  Those proceedings are expected to take place before Denbigh Magistrates Court on 22 July.
