07/15/2008 - Travelling Bishops enjoy a taste of Welsh hospitality

Bishops from all over the world visited Wales last week and enjoyed the colourful atmosphere of the Llangollen Music International Eisteddfod before heading off to take part in the Lambeth Conference of Bishops of the Anglican Communion in Canterbury.
The group included the Rt Revd Devaraj Bangera, Bishop of Karnataka South, Church of South India (United), the Rt Revd Sebastiao Armando Gameleira Soares, Bishop of Recife, Brazil, the Rt Revd Douglas Stevens, Bishop of Riverina, New South Wales, the Rt Revd Dean Elliott Wolfe, Bishop of Kansas, USA and the Rt Revd John Simalenga, Bishop of South West Tanganyika. They were accompanied by the Rt Revd John Davies, Bishop of St Asaph.
While at the Eisteddfod, the group were treated to warm Welsh cakes, tea and coffee at the Denbighshire marquee where they met with Denbighshire’s Chief Executive, Ian Miller.
Mr Miller said: “It was a pleasure to greet our international visitors and have the opportunity to show them some of what Denbighshire, county of culture 2008 has to offer.”
Each of Wales’ six dioceses welcomed the bishops during the week and all took the opportunity to do some sightseeing before leaving Wales today (Tuesday) and getting back to business at the once-a-decade event at Canterbury,
