The 7 Core Aims for Children & Young People
CYPP

All Children & Young People have a right:

1. To have a flying start in life
To be born healthy, into a secure and supportive family.

2. To have a comprehensive range of education and learning opportunities
Including training and work experience tailored to needs, basic skills which open doors to a full life and advice and guidance, student support and counselling to enable all young people to reach their potential.

3. To enjoy the best possible health and be free from abuse, victimisation and exploitation
Including appropriate personal support and advice- where and when needed, clear ground rules on confidentiality, advice on health, housing benefits and other issues in accessible and welcoming settings.

4. To have access to play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities
Including recreational and social opportunities in safe and accessible environments, sporting, artistic, musical and outdoor experiences to develop talents, broaden horizons and promote rounded perspectives including both national and international contexts.

5. To be listened to, treated with respect, and have their race and cultural identity recognised
Be able to have a say in decisions that affect them, understand their rights and their responsibilities, be able to participate in volunteering and active citizenship.

6. To have a safe home and a community which supports physical and emotional wellbeing
Be safe and emotionally supported within their home and local community, to enable them to grow into confident, responsible and valued citizens.

7. Not be disadvantaged by poverty
Be able to access support and services to develop skills, learning and confidence to become caring and valued people regardless of their families’ income.
