We provide community development advice and information to all areas of Denbighshire that requires it, in order to support community led collective action.
The purpose of Community Development is about supporting people to build active and sustainable communities based on mutual respect. It is about challenging power structures to remove barriers that prevent people from playing an active part in the issues that affect their lives. Community workers support individuals, groups and organisations in this process by offering help in the following:
• Assistance in formation of community groups
• Advice and information on constitutions and other governing instruments
• Advice and information on fund raising
• Referral point for groups and individuals to access other local and national services and agencies
• Advice and information on setting objectives and business planning
• Collation and dissemination of relevant information to and from community groups
• Training in a wide range of media resources
• ICT equipment, printing and photocopying
Subject to successful funding bids, we can provide training in:
1. Committee skills
2. Negotiating skills
3. Council and other relevant agency structures
4. Basic Accounting
5. Community based ICT repair/maintenance/training project
6. A variety of community based courses to improve skills

 

Objectives
• Provide assisted access to resources which allow community groups to state their case and achieve their objectives
• Provide council departments and other agencies with assistance in public consultation exercises, particularly with ‘hard to reach’ groups
• Provide opportunities for education, training and personal development, in and with, less engaged communities in a manner which is easily accessible and non threatening to them
• Create systems in order to provide and maintain relevant statistics and progress reports to all external funding bodies according to their requirements
• In Partnership, explore external funding opportunities to develop inititaives that benefit the whole community
