What is Text the Council?

This service enables you to contact Denbighshire County Council by text message with non emergency general enquiries about council services. It demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering services to customers in ways that are convenient, and easy to use. Texting also helps improve access to our services for customers with hearing impairments in addition to our current minicom service.

The mobile phone texting service or Short Messaging Service (SMS) allows you to send a text message while you are out and about with your mobile phone, ensuring that you can contact Denbighshire County Council from any location for general enquiries and help to keep us informed about local issues.

As this is a new service, we welcome any feedback. Either text us with comments or e-mail us.

How do I text?

Step 1
Save the number 07800140088  to your phone (see your mobile phone instructions on how to do this).
This is important as you never know when you will need to contact us. If you notice an area that is in need of attention, simply send us a text message.

Step 2
Please provide as much detail as possible in your message. If your enquiry relates to you or your property specifically, please provide your name and full address, or as a minimum your surname, house name/number and postcode. Existing customers should quote their Customer Number where possible. For example, "My bin has not been collected. Mr D Jones 4 High St Ruthin LL15 1YN" or, "my bin has not been collected. C12345."

Step 3
Send to 07800140088. Your message will go to the Customer Care Service who will respond.

How much will my text message cost to send?
The cost of sending a text message is dependent on the mobile phone tariff you use. Please refer to your mobile network service provider for details of charges.  Denbighshire County Council does not make any additional charge.

Can I send pictures taken with my mobile phone?
The Council is not at present able to process MMS messages (messages containing image, audio or video content). Any messages containing this content sent to the above number will not be processed.

When will you respond to my text?
Your text message will be acknowledged by an automated bilingual text message.
A response will be sent within 10 working days.  Where this is not possible we will provide an update with a revised response date.
