Matthew Wood
110 Paintings of Wales
24 Sept – 12 Nov2011
110 Paintings of Wales takes us on a journey around Wales, showing the diverse and distinctive landscapes that Matthew has visited. The Welsh landscape is arguably both sublime and picturesque: it represents a seemingly endless diversity of landscape motif, be it the calming southern vistas of the Cambrian Mountains seen from Aran Fawddwy, or  the upfront and brutal landscape of the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia. Each painting is produced in one sitting, on location, aiming to capture that particular sense of place and time.

24.09.11- 12.11.11
Kirsti Hannah Brown  - Beautiful stoneware bottles and vases inspired by the Welsh landscape.
Julia Hobbs – Semi precious gemstone and textile jewellery

Eirian Llwyd and Martin Wenham
“gweld llais a chlywed llun” - seeing voice, hearing image
19 Nov  2011–  14 Jan  2012

One printmaker, one sculptor with words, both using different ways of communicating ideas concerning language and image.

Eirian Llwyd’s prints are to do with a sense of place, inspired by her move to Anglesey from the Vale of Clwyd; Suggestions of the  Prehistoric and Celtic relics from Anglesey often surface in her prints,  reminding us of our roots, our place in history and how a people, an identity and language can survive.

Language is the subject and the inspiration in Martin Wenham’s work – in fact Martin needs language just as a portrait painter needs a face. Language is made visible, with an aim to explore what the words mean, and communicate them to you, the viewer. Martin works mostly in carved  wood , also using found materials -scraps, fragments & driftwood.

19.11.11 – 21.12.11
Christmas Craft Showcase: Sara Withers - Mixed media jewellery using a complex range of beads.  Puzzlewood  - Quality handmade puzzles from local maker Heather Prydderch .
