Food Waste Collections
Food Waste Caddy

The UK throws away 4.1 million tonnes of food waste per year, much of this is untouched and unopened!

Food waste forms around 28% of the average Denbighshire householder's bin waste by weight and, up until now, this has been buried in landfill sites. All food waste however including cooked food, raw meat and fish can be composted, but it must be specially treated and therefore it will be collected seperately.

As a result of this change householders will no longer have to dispose of their kitchen waste in their black wheelie bin. Instead you will be able to put your food waste including peelings, bones, tea bags, leftovers etc into your new orange food waste bin ready for its weekly collection. A smaller kitchen caddy is provided for you to collect food waste in each day and transfer to the orange food waste container when convenient.

Food waste collections can make a significant difference in increasing the level of recycling we are achieving in Denbighshire.

Food waste containers
Your orange food waste container can be easily locked. The lid is secure when the handle is positioned  at the front of the container. To open the lid, push the handle to the rear of the container. Residents are asked to lock the lid when presenting the food waste container on collection day.

Use the biodegradable liners supplied to line your kitchen caddy. 2 rolls are supplied (enough for 2 sacks per week to be used). Only liners supplied by Denbighshire County Council can be used for the kitchen caddies, if any other liner is used your food waste will not be collected.

Please only use your tag when you have ran out of bags.
