There may be some circumstances where people who already receive support from Social Services might also be known to the Probation Service. An example of this may be where Social Services is providing support to a family with a child considered to be 'in need', and one or both parents are on probation. There can also be situations where an individual, who is the subject of a probation order, might be in need of support from Social Services regarding mental health, substance misuse or disability related issues. In cases like these, Social Services will work together with the Probation Service to make sure that there is a joint approach to addressing needs and that all support is provided as seamlessly as possible.
