You must apply for a temporary event notice (TEN) if you want to hold an ad-hoc event, such as a concert or a street party, where you will be:
- selling alcohol
- serving alcohol to members of a private club
- serving hot food or drink between 11pm and 5am
- providing entertainment, such as dancing or live or recorded music (you may not need a licence for some performances of live music. Find out more here)
You must apply for a temporary event notice no later than 10 working days before the event. You must also give a copy of the notice to the police no later than 10 working days before the event.
It is possible to apply for a late TEN no later than 5 working days before the event, but you will not be able to appeal the decision if your late TEN is refused.
You must be at least 18 years old to apply for a temporary event notice.
