What if I can't get superfast broadband yet?

We are aware that a number of properties within Denbighshire will be unable to get access to Superfast Broadband as part of the Welsh Government's Superfast Cymru project.

Broadband Voucher Scheme

Broadband Voucher Schemes are government grants to fund (or part fund) installation costs of new broadband connections

We encourage residents in Denbighshire who are not part of the Welsh Government Superfast Cymru project roll out to consider and apply for one of the broadband voucher schemes if applicable.

There are three types of Voucher Schemes currently available:

  • Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme and Welsh Government top up
  • Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme
  • Access Broadband Cymru Scheme

UK Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme and Welsh Government top up

The Gigabit voucher scheme focus on group schemes where either a business works with one or more businesses or a local business works with a minimum of ten residents from their surrounding community.

Vouchers contribute to the installation cost of a gigabit-capable broadband connection (1000 mbps) and through the scheme businesses can claim up to £2,500 against the cost of a gigabit capable connection and residents can claim a voucher worth £500 as part of a group project with a business.

For businesses and residents in Wales additional funding is available.

The Welsh Government will fund up to an additional £3,000 per small to medium-sized business (SME) and an additional £300 per residential property. This means that for group projects in Wales up to £5,500 is available per business and up to £800 is available per residential property.

Vouchers are accessed by the chosen broadband supplier working with a group scheme.

For eligibility and terms and conditions these can be found on the Department for Digital, Culture media and sports website (external website).

Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme

The Rural Gigabit voucher scheme is an option for business and residents in rural locations to use vouchers for broadband connectivity where a 1000 mbps is not currently possible but a minimum of 30 mbps is expected.

Vouchers are only accessed by a chosen broadband supplier and can be used by individuals and business separately or as part of groups (two or more residents and/or businesses combining vouchers).

Vouchers are worth up to £3,500 for each small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and up to £1,500 per residential premise to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections.

For eligibility and terms and conditions these can be found on the Department for Digital, Culture media and sports website.

Access Broadband Cymru scheme

The scheme provides grants to individual residents or businesses to fund (or part-fund) the installation costs of new broadband connections in Wales. It does not include monthly rental costs.

New connections through this scheme must deliver a step change in speed - with at least double your current download speeds e.g. a current connection of 10Mbps must improve to at least 20Mbps.

The amount of funding you can receive depends on the speed of the new connection:

  • £400 for 10Mbps and above
  • £800 for 30Mbps and above

Individuals access vouchers and advice and guidance on applying for the Access Broadband Cymru scheme can be found on the Welsh Government Superfast Broadband website (external website).
