Flash Fiction Competition

Can you write a short story exactly 500 words in length? If so, you can enter our Flash Fiction Competion to win a £25 book voucher. 

Your story can be on any theme, so it could be about:

  • your experiences during lockdown
  • a romance
  • a mystery
  • a scary story
  • anything you like

How to take part

If you'd like to take part in the Flash Fiction Competition, please email your entry as an attachment to library@denbighshire.gov.uk, with the subject heading: ‘Flash Fiction Competition’.

Competition rules

  • Entrants are allowed to submit one short story only
  • All short stories must be exactly 500 words long, they cannot be extracts from longer works.
  • Entries can be in Welsh or English
  • The title is not part of the word count
  • The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered in to

Closing date

The closing date for entries is 30 November 2020 and the winner will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.

Entries may be displayed in various locations, for example, on Borrowbox, on social media or in libraries.
