The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting in Denbighshire

On Thursday 2 June 2022, Her Majesty the Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
In recognition of The Queen’s service more than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries.
Denbighshire County Council will be lighting an official beacon at the Events Arena in Rhyl, together with additional lighting and flame effects. Buildings along the promenade will also be lit in red, white and blue to mark the occasion.

Anyone can attend this free event and we very much hope that you will be able to join us in this memorable celebration.
As this is a late evening and outdoor event, please remember to dress appropriately just in case it’s a cold spring evening.
Schedule
- 9pm to 9:15pm - Arrival of guests and official photographs
- 9:25pm - Official Welcome by the Chairman of Denbighshire County Council
- 9:35pm - Piper to play “Diu Regnare” as a personal tribute to Her Majesty the Queen
- 9:40pm - Bugler to play a unique Bugle Call entitled “Majesty”
- 9:45pm - Lighting of the Beacon by the Chairman of Denbighshire County Council and the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd. Everyone will be invited to join in to sing ‘A Song for the Commonwealth’ in celebration of this special moment in the Queen’s life
- 9:55pm - Closing remarks by the Mayor of Rhyl
- 10pm - Event finishes and everyone departs the Events Arena
