Free caravan/campervan weight check and security advice

After the success of the 2019 caravan weighing sessions we have decided to run them again in 2022.

If you're off on holiday in your touring or motor caravan, we (Denbighshire and Conwy Trading Standards) want to make sure that you are not overloading your vehicle or caravan and putting yourself at risk.

We are offering free caravan weighing and advice sessions for Denbighshire and Conwy residents (and other authorities if you wish to travel).

Please note this is an advice session and we will not take any action if overloading or other issues are found, but we will work with you to reduce the load.

The free weight checks will take place at the Weighbridge on the A525 between Rhuddlan and St Asaph on the following dates and times:

  • Friday 1 April 2022: 9.30am to 2pm
  • Saturday 9 April 2022: 8am to 1pm

Free trader weight checks and security advice

We have been running weighing enforcement operations at the County’s weighbridge for well over 2 years now and the results have been eye opening with a 35% failure rate. We have found overloaded vehicles ranging from the obvious mistake at 5% to the ridiculous at 144% above their plated legal weights. What does appear as a fact from these results, is that the vast majority do not know what they can legally carry on your vehicle.

In light of these findings we have decided to offer traders in the Denbighshire and Conwy areas the opportunity to come to the weighbridge and weigh your vehicle without a load. We can then help you to calculate exactly how much your vehicle can carry and be safely within its plated limits.

If you fancy attending then please make sure that the vehicle has no additional load, just your normal tools, racking, fuel and passengers. We can then calculate for you exactly how much weight you can legally carry.
