Denbighshire Libraries are celebrating Libraries Week 2022 with a week of events centred around supporting life-long learning, during October 3-9. Libraries Week is a week-long celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries, this year highlighting the significant role that libraries play in inspiring learning for all and helping individuals to unlock and fulfil their potential at every stage of life.

Throughout the week libraries will be encouraging everyone to never stop learning through a variety of events to engage the local community.

Denbigh Library will be hosting a Ukrainian coffee morning on Tuesday October 4th 10.30-12.00 and people are welcome to come along and learn more about Ukrainian life and culture.

At Rhyl Library, the Shelf Indulgence Reading Group will meet on Thursday 6th October 11.00-12.00 for its monthly meeting, the new weekly Spinning Yarns knitting and craft group will meet for the first time on Friday 7th 10.00-12.00, and Paned a Sgwrs Cymraeg, a Welsh Language Social for fluent speakers and confident learners, will start to meet monthly on a Friday 1.30-2.30 from Friday 7th.

Digital Drop-in sessions will offer friendly help to learn to get online and download lots of great stuff to enjoy – and a paned – on Wednesday 5th October at Prestatyn Library 10.00-12.00 and Rhyl Library 2.00-4.00pm

Ruthin Library will be hosting a display of art titled Uwch Rhuthun / Ruthin Tops by G. Morton Roberts, with an opening on October 3rd 1.00-2.00, and the Crefft a Chlonc / Craft and Chat group have their monthly session on October 4th 10.00-12.00 – a chance to develop new craft skills and have a chat and paned. Also Talking Points will return to Ruthin Library on October 7th – a chance to have a conversation about the support and opportunities available locally to help with wellbeing and living well.

At Llangollen Library, a creative writing workshop with Trish Maybury on Wednesday 5th October 10.00-12.00 will be an opportunity to learn how to write short prose pieces about a life experience or a favourite place.

Prestatyn Library’s craft and chat group will be meeting on Thursday 6th October 10.00-12.00 to share their creative making skills.

People are also invited to call in to their local library at any time to discover the huge range of services on offer including books, audiobooks and jigsaws to borrow or download free, IT access and printing including a new cloud printing service, advice and support sessions, visitor information and activities for children.

Councillor Emrys Wynne, Lead Member for Culture, Leisure and the Welsh Language said, “I marvel at all the services which are available at our libraries here in Denbighshire. I encourage everyone to call in to their local library during Libraries Week 2022 to discover more about all the ways libraries empower life-long learning. Everyone is welcome and the library is free to join.”
