What about other villages in the Ruthin area?

We have excluded those villages covered by a good bus service.

Which areas of Ruthin housing estates are covered?

Which areas of Ruthin housing estates are covered?

Most if not all of them. This includes many of Ruthin’s cul-de-sacs.

Passengers will be ‘told’ by their app or by the telephonist where to walk to get their bus.

Can passengers book multiple journeys?

Can passengers book multiple journeys?

Passengers can book a return trip, if they wish to, or book one way and then keep the return flexible and book later. Note that a minimum one-hour booking window always applies. It’s also possible to book regular journeys (for example: each week at the same time).

What are the benefits?

Most areas currently have limited services and some on certain days only. The flexible service will offer more journey opportunities.

How does the flexible service work?

How does the flexible service work?

Passengers book by app / online / by phone and the software arranges journeys as appropriately as possible to match passenger needs. It will intelligently send the driver to the appropriate drop off and pick up points in the best order.

What happens if two people want to travel at the same time?

What happens if two people want to travel at the same time?

The software sorts out the pick-up and drop-off arrangements into the best or most logical order.

Are all passenger journeys focused on Ruthin town centre as a destination?

Are all passenger journeys focused on Ruthin town centre as a destination?

No. Within the target area, passengers can travel where they want.

This could be from village to village (e.g. Graigfechan to Cyffylliog). It could be between Ruthin residential areas (e.g. Maes Hafod to Erw Goch). It could also be from anywhere in the target area to for example Aldi, B&M, Co-op, Ruthin Leisure Centre, the Craft Centre, Lôn Parcwr as well as town centre bus stops. In short, anywhere safe to pick up and drop off.

This opens up many more journey opportunities than at present.

Is the service door to door?

Is the service door to door?

Some journeys will be. For most, the software or telephonist will tell the prospective passenger where to wait and this will usually be a short walk which is usually less than that to a fixed bus stop.

What about passengers with mobility needs or other additional needs?

What about passengers with mobility needs or other additional needs?

The vehicle will in future be able to get much closer to where someone lives or wants to go. Passengers have an option to state if they require additional help. Note that there is space within the vehicle for someone to travel in their own chair.

What if there are delays?

What if there are delays?

From time to time, these will be inevitable. Passengers who use the app or have a smart mobile phone will get any updates instantly (and will also receive a count-down to when the bus is expected). Those who book by landline will not have this benefit.

What are the fares?

What are the fares?

£1 adult single within the town of Ruthin and £1.50 adult single from village to village or a village into Ruthin. Free travel passes will be valid, as now.
