Our Sports Awards recognise achievements and contributions in all sports from both teams and individuals.

2017 Sports Awards

The 2017 Sports Awards ceremony will be held on 9th of November at Llangollen Pavilion.

An individual or team will be chosen from the winners of the categories below for their outstanding achievements/contributions to sport and will represent Denbighshire for the next year as the Community Sport Ambassador.

The closing date for nominations is 21st July.

Sports Performer

A sports player aged 16 or over as at the 31st December 2015 who has competed for a club either within or outside the county and displayed sporting excellence in their sport/s.

Junior Sports Performer

A sports player aged 15 or under (as at the 31st December 2015) who has competed for a club either within or outside the county and displayed sporting excellence in their sport/s.

Coach of the Year

Sponsored by Glyndwr University Sport

A coach who has excelled in one or both of sport Wales aspirations ‘For every child to be hooked on sport for life’ by improving participation in their sport/s or improving the performance of their team/performer to help create ‘a nation of champions’.

Team/Club of the Year

A school based or Community based team or club in Denbighshire whose members have contribute to outstanding achievements.

Volunteer of the Year

A resident of Denbighshire or a person affiliated to a Denbighshire club who as a volunteer has made an outstanding contribution to their club, organisation or school in the year.

Disability Sport Award

Sponsored by Children and Family Services

A sport performer, volunteer or coach in Denbighshire with a learning and/or physical disability that has excelled in their sport/s. Or for outstanding contributions to disability sport in Denbighshire.

Young Inspiration Award

An inspirational person aged 25 or younger (as at the 31st December 2014) who has contributed through school, community or both to help develop sporting opportunities in Denbighshire.

Lifetime Achievement Award

An individual that has dramatically improved the sporting environment across Denbighshire for a sustained period of 15 years or more. Or a resident of Denbighshire who has been committed and dedicated to improving sport in any context over the same period of time or more.

Sport in School Award

A school that can provide good practice examples of sporting projects or initiatives that have raised the profile of sport in their school, or can be seen as leading sector regarding participation figures and/or sporting excellence.
