The dragon will roar in Prestatyn Library on St David's Day

A new action adventure book inspired by Welsh legend will be launched at Prestatyn Library+ on Wednesday March 1st to mark St David’s Day. Dragon Red, by top author and illustrator Shoo Rayner, is a magical school story, funny and exciting, that will make you wish you had your own dragon. It is the final part of a trilogy, after Dragon Gold and Dragon White, aimed at 7-9 year olds.

The author Shoo Rayner will be visiting the library to meet children from Ysgol Clawdd Offa  and to tell them all about the very special dragon called Tân.

“We are delighted to welcome Shoo Rayner back to Denbighshire to launch his latest book,” said Bethan M Hughes of Denbighshire Libraries. “Shoo is a fabulous writer and illustrator and I know that the children will love the visit. Shoo is a great supporter of libraries and our work encouraging  children and adults to read and giving access to the wealth of books which are available. We are also delighted to be working with the publishers, Firefly Press, who have made a huge impact on the children’s books scene in a few short years, to arrange this special book launch.”

Shoo Rayner began his career as an illustrator in a garden shed near Machynlleth. He drew for Michael Morpurgo and Rose Impey, but editors kept encouraging him to write. Many years, and over 175 books later, Shoo, well known for his many fast-paced series for newly confident readers, has been building a worldwide following for his award winning how-to-draw videos on YouTube. Shoo lives in the Forest of Dean with his wife and three cats. Dragon Gold was highly commended for the Tir na n’Og Welsh Children’s book award, and was chosen for the Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge in 2016.
