Structural improvements have been carried out on a river bridge in Bryneglwys.
Regular checks are carried out on bridges in the county and a structural assessment on Pont Bryneglwys found the weight limit low.
The bridge was closed to allow remedial works to take place. That involves placing a concrete ‘saddle’ over the top of the bridge arch to strengthen the structure for another 120 years or so.
The Council closed the bridge once the problem came to light and has worked tirelessly to carry out the work as quickly as possible, taking into consideration the fact that the route is one of the main ways into the village.
Diversions are in place and the road is expected to re-open early to middle of next week. The Council would like to thank residents for their patience whilst the essential works take place.
