Denbighshire County Council and the Governing Body of Ysgol Llywelyn, Rhyl have issued a joint statement with regards to the position with Martine’s Childcare.
“The decision to issue the notice for Martine’s Childcare to vacate their premises at Ysgol Llywelyn, was taken due to the fact that pupil numbers have grown year on year to such an extent that the space currently occupied by Martine’s is desperately needed by the school to provide teaching space for additional learning needs pupils.
“The decision was taken to allow the school to be able to deliver the statutory education that is legally required and that the children deserve. That has and should always be the over-riding priority.
“However, in order to alleviate concern and anxiety over the summer and to ensure that we are in a position to address the accommodation needs of the school so that high standards of delivery and provision of Education will be sustained we feel that it is right to reflect on the current position. Whilst doing this we will be mindful of the needs of the children who access the childcare provision. We will review the position in the autumn and determine the most appropriate way forward”.
