Lighting up Rhyl for Christmas

The festive countdown has begun in Rhyl as the date and line up for the official Christmas light switch on has been announced.

The town will shimmer and sparkle when the Christmas lights are illuminated on December 2nd and Reggie ‘n’ Bollie, X-Factor finalists will join Rhyl Town Mayor Councillor Alan James to start the festive celebrations.

Reggie 'n' Bollie (formerly Menn on Poinnt) are a Ghanaian music duo consisting of Reggie Zippy and Bollie Babeface. They formed in 2012 and are best known for finishing as runners-up in the X-Factor final in 2015.

The entertainment will start on the High Street at 2.30pm and finish with a short firework finale at 5.00pm.

A number of celebrities will join the popular duo, including the cast of this year’s magical pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’ which stars Vicky Entwistle, Amy Thompson, Sarah-Jane Buckley, Sean Jones and Charles Burden plus X-Factor contestants Sam Lavery and Christian Burrows, local boy band Contagious and female vocalist Caz McElroy.

Costumed street entertainers and stilt-walkers are just a few examples of the spectacular entertainment that will be at the switch on to entertain the crowds. Other street entertainment includes balloon modellers and more seasonally themed costumed characters.

The event is organised by Denbighshire County Council and supported by Rhyl Town Council.
