Major infrastructure developments, or Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), are developments such as power plants, large renewable energy projects, major road projects and new airports or extensions to airports.
Major infrastructure developments require development consent. This is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate and determined by the Secretary of State.
