How much money has Rhyl received from UK Government for this project?
Just over £5.6 million has been awarded to this project to improve link between the beach and town centre. However, this amount must cover all project costs and not just construction.
Can this money be used for something else?
The UK Government set specific criteria for the types of projects that it would fund through the Levelling Up Fund.
The money can only be spent on the projects that it has approved.

What has the funding been awarded for?
To deliver 0.4km of improved cycle way and 0.4km of pedestrian paths improved and increase pedestrian footfall within town centre and promenade.
Are there any designs yet?
No not yet. Proposed designs will be shared through a public consultation in Autumn 2025.
How will you keep people informed?
Information about the project as it evolves will be available on the Council’s website as well as through the following means:

Will the planned works be carbon neutral or even carbon positive?
As we have not yet designed the project, we do not know what the carbon impact will be. However, in 2019, the Council declared a Climate Emergency and has set ambitious targets to be Carbon Zero by 2030, more information can be found on our website. The carbon impact will therefore be a key consideration when designing and delivering the project.
